JavaScript Input
In JavaScript, the input refers to any data provided by the user which is collected by using various input elements such as text boxes, check boxes, radio buttons, etc.
Syntax
To retrieve the value of input, we can make use of the value
property. For example:
let inputElement = document.getElementById("myInput");
let inputValue = inputElement.value;
Example
We can create an input element in HTML like this:
<label for="name">Name:</label>
<input type="text" id="name" name="name">
Then, using JavaScript, we can retrieve the value entered by the user like this:
let nameInput = document.getElementById("name");
let userName = nameInput.value;
Output
The value
property will return the user's input as a string. In the above example, the value of userName
variable will be the string entered by the user in the "Name" text box.
Explanation
The getElementById
method is used to access the input element using its unique ID. Then, the value
property of the element is used to retrieve the input value.
Use
Input values are commonly used in JavaScript to validate user input, manipulate page content, or interact with APIs or other web services.
Important Points
- The
value
property of an input element always returns a string. - Different types of input elements have different properties that can be used to retrieve their values (e.g.
checked
property for check boxes and radio buttons).
Summary
JavaScript allows us to retrieve input data provided by users using the value
property of input elements. We can use this input data to interact with web services, manipulate page content, or validate user input.
